Comfortable eight-run victory for Siliguri Strikers

The much-awaited Bengal Pro T20 League got off to a flying start with Servotech Siliguri Strikers registering a comfortable eight-run victory over Harbour Diamonds in the opening match at the Eden Gardens on Tuesday.

The star performers for Servotech Siliguri Strikers were Suraj Sindhu Jaiswal (4-29), Rajkumar Pal (3-31) and Shantanu (44).

Suraj was named the man of the match for his superb bowling.

Batting first, Servotech Siliguri Strikers posted 141 in 19.3 overs.

In reply, Harbour Diamonds were bowled out for 133 in 19.5 overs.

Earlier, put into bat, Siliguri Strikers dealt an early blow with the dismissal of Abhishek Raman (5) in the second over of the innings.

However, Ankur Paul (31), Vishal Bhati (17), Shantanu helped the team recover after a slow start.

But wickets at regular intervals in the middle overs put a check on their scoring.

Vikas (20) played a handy knock in the end to take team to a respectable total.

For Harbour Diamonds, Prayas Ray Barman was the pick of the bowlers bagging 3 for 28.

Chasing the target, Harbour Diamonds were in a spot of bother after being reduced to 40/3 inside 7 overs.

However, Prayas (32 off 19) played a fighting knock to put Harbour Diamonds back into the game but his stay in the crease was shortlived.

Skipper and marquee player Manoj Tiwary (4) too failed to make a mark.

As wickets kept tumbling at the other end, Badal Singh Balyan (37 off 22) played a quickfire knock but the Siliguri Strikers bowlers were clinical to take the game away from the opposition.
